1)Introduction of indian classical music
Indian classical music is the traditional music of northern regions of the indian subcontinent......
2) Notes (swaras)
There are 7 notes in Indian classical music
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni
There full names (ROOT WORD)
Sa = Shadaj
Re = Rishab
Ga = Gandhar
Ma = Madhyam
Pa = Pancham
Dha = Dhaivat
Ni = Nishad
3) TYPES OF NOTES (SWAR)
Swar is musical note
i)Shuddh swar (Natural notes)
7 Shuddh Swars are - Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa.
No symbol for sudhh swara...
ii) komal swar (Flat notes)
4 Komal swars are - Re Ga Dha Ni
symbol of kamal swar a small horizontl line underneath
iii) Tivra swar (Sharp Note)
1 Tivra swar - Ma'
symbol of Ma tivra a small vertical line on the top......
NOTE: SWAR SA AND PA ARE IMMOVABLE
4) SAPTAK (OCTAVE)
In indian classical music we divide an octave into 12 notes.
we use movable scale ,wich means that your octave can start from anywhere you like.
your starting poin is TONIC CALLED
SA AND DENOTED BY SA'
There are three main octaves used in indian music
i) LOWER OCTIVE / MANDRA SAPTAK
(symbole of mandra saptak is dot below swar)
Eg: .sa .re .ga
ii)MIDDLE OCTAVE / MADHYA SAPTAK
(Madhya saptak has no sign)
Eg: sa re ga
iii) HIGHER OCTAVE / TAAR SAPTAK
(taar saptak symbole a dot above)
Eg: sa' re' ga'
